What’s Cooking for New Year’s Eve

Celebrating New Year’s Eve? Many South Shore restaurants offer special prix fixe dinners just for this occasion. Here’s a small sampling of what local chefs will be preparing:

The Winsor House Inn– Chef Franco’s celebratory four-course dinner features a range of options that are both complex and comforting. Guests can enjoy entrées like roasted venison served with salt baked beets, brussels and parsnips with chestnut purée, finished with coco nibs and raspberry-venison sauce. They can also try the Quatre Epicé rubbed breast of duck, with King Trumpet mushrooms, celery-pear purée, luxardo cherry, foie gras jus. Guests will also be treated to live music and a glass of bubbly. For more info, visit www.WinsorHouseInn.com.

Scarlet Oak Tavern – Chef Stephen Sherman’s New Year’s Eve menu includes a range of flavorful options including appetizers like buttermilk fried shrimp appetizer, a 10-ounce filet mignon with Madeira mushroom sauce, green bean almondine and crushed Yukon potatoes entrée and a champagne vanilla cake for dessert.  For more info, visit www.scarletoaktavern.com.

Steel and Rye – Instead of their traditional dinner service, the restaurant is hosting a live band and Chef Chris Parsons will be serving a feast via various stations throughout the room. Expect oyster shucking, a pasta bar, a carving station, as well as an array of passed snacks and sliders. Ticket price for the night includes food, music and midnight-toast.
