Quincy native Lindsay Tia Reilly, creator of the designer handbag brand Lindsay Tia, is opening a new storefront in Dorchester’s Port Norfolk called The Cue. The chic loft will serve as a showroom, boutique and event space and will carry Reilly’s American-made handbag designs as well as other local and international labels.
Reilly was 6 years old when her mother enrolled her in a sewing class at In Stitches Sewing and Design Studio in Quincy. She went on to enroll in the fashion merchandising program at Lasell College and after graduating in 2013, she opened her first shop in Abington. This fall, Reilly is reintroducing her highly celebrated camouflage LT Luxe bag. The limited-edition fold-over purse can be worn over-the-shoulder or as a clutch.
“This is our signature bag and it’s the last round because the leather will be discontinued,” says Reilly. The designer proudly manufactures in Massachusetts using leather from New York and Florida. The lining of the LT Luxe collection is also unique, as it is made from recycled parachute material from the United States Military. Reilly says her grandmother, the late Bernice Speen, was the inspiration behind the LT Luxe line. When Speen passed away, she gifted rings to Reilly along with a little black book containing the memories she had while wearing each ring. “Inside every LT Luxe bag you’ll find a little black book to write down the memories you have while wearing your bag,” says Reilly, who hopes her clients will continue the tradition.
