Plymouth photographer Alyssa Stone has been snapping pictures at the Marshfield Fair ever since she got her first DSLR camera.
“I love the colors and the atmosphere, whether it’s day or night,” says Stone, who says she always finds something at the fair that catches her eye. In fact, it was after shooting some particularly dramatic fair photos, back when she was in college, that she decided to pursue photography as a career. “I photographed a couple at the fair, before closing. It was this weird romantic shot and not at all what I expected to find there–sort of moody and gritty, but beautiful at the same time,” says Stone. “That’s when I thought, ‘hey, I can do this for a living.’”
A graduate from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University with a major in photography, Stone is a staff photojournalist at GateHouse Media New England and also takes on freelance photography assignments. She can often be found snapping photos at local events. “I try my best to organically capture moments around me without influencing them,” says Stone.
