Summer Lovin’

A stunning Cohasset home is a world apart

By Ann Luongo

The very moment you cross the threshold of the Nantucket-style home at 112 Beach St., in Cohasset, you immediately sense the tranquility of the place. Built in 2015, the 5,000-square-foot new-construction home is breathtaking and serene, making visitors feel a million miles away from the crowds, noise and fast pace of everyday life.

Built by Stevens Development Group in Cohasset, the home is spacious but doesn’t feel overwhelming. As guests enter the home they walk into a room that is filled with natural light. There is a grand staircase that winds its way up to the second floor and multiple windows that draw attention to views of the beautiful, blue waters at Little Harbor and Sandy Beach, just beyond.

Stepping through the high-ceilinged foyer, columns mark the entrance to the dining area that is perfect for intimate gatherings or a quiet dinner for two and nearby, there is a peaceful study.

The home’s great room is the heart of the home and is designed to be inviting. Its gas fireplace (one of two in the home) keeps the room cozy on cold nights and creates a romantic ambiance for entertaining and built-in bookshelves next to the fireplace hold treasured reads. A tray ceiling adds dimension to the space and a door beyond the fireplace opens to a long mahogany deck that wraps around most of the home.

The home features a designer kitchen with an enormous granite-topped island, complete with wet bar and white-paneled storage beneath. White cabinetry gives the room a distinct country feel while the stainless-steel, top-of-the-line appliances make cooking and entertaining a breeze. Soft-glow pendant light fixtures were sourced from Fleming’s of Cohasset Village. Just beyond the kitchen is an inviting breakfast nook with multiple windows that provide plenty of light and views of the water. Just off the kitchen, a mudroom shares space with a half bath and laundry area.

Upstairs, the master bedroom is a relaxing oasis with a gas fireplace, large windows (including a gorgeous porthole window) and a door to a private deck. Homeowners will wake up to breathtaking views of Little Harbor. Here, and throughout the home, the shades of white, light gray and the very lightest blue on the walls create a peaceful feeling.

A guest bedroom offers a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom with a glass shower, a separate water closet and a double sink. The third and fourth bedrooms are spacious and inviting, and offer deck access as well as another full bathroom with a double sink and separate water closet.

Down a hallway, there is a beautiful space over the garage that features a dormered ceiling and windows overlooking the driveway. With ample storage and a reading nook, this additional space could easily be made into a fifth bedroom, a children’s playroom, craft room or office. Similarly, the unfinished basement is just waiting to be transformed into an entertainer’s dream. Already plumbed and wired for electricity, security and surround-sound, the room offers 2,000-square feet of space with windows facing the yard and ocean.

Just outside, there is a beautiful stone patio and a removable, private dock that is only a few steps away. From there, swimming, fishing, boating and sunning can all be on the agenda. The property also offers prime access for kayaking and canoeing. A short walk from the conveniences of downtown, and not far from the harbor and beach, this coastally inspired home offers numerous amenities and would make an ideal year-round haven or summer home.
