Stories of Inspiring Women

You may recognize radio legend Candy O’Terry’s voice from Magic 106.7 in Boston. This year she’s launched a new project: “The Story Behind Her Success,” a weekly podcast series that interviews women from around the world.

After spending 25 years on the radio at Magic 106.7 in Boston, Candy O’Terry has a voice that is easily recognized. Back in 1993, she created the award-winning “Exceptional Women” radio show and went on to interview over 600 women from every walk of life. She earned 45 local and national awards for excellence in women’s programming and when she finally decided to step away from her radio job, O’Terry knew that she would need to find another creative outlet so she could continue telling the stories of inspirational women.

Earlier this year, O’Terry launched an exciting new project, “The Story Behind Her Success” podcast series. The weekly program features interviews with women from around the country, but with a particular focus on individuals from Boston and the South Shore. This month, Boston Women in Media & Entertainment, an organization O’Terry helped found, will present The Story Behind Her Success Luncheon on Friday, October 19 at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy. Hosted by Boston television icon Liz Brunner, this luncheon will include live interviews with five exceptional Boston area women.

Special guests include Megan Driscoll, the founder and CEO of Pharmalogics Recruiting, Lisa Fenn, an award-winning producer with ESPN and the author of the book “Carry On,” Jessica Leip, an inspiring wife and mother living with terminal breast cancer, Dr. Myechia-Minter-Jordan, president and CEO of The Dimock Center, and Erica McDermott, a registered nurse and well-known actress who has appeared in films like “The Fighter,” “American Hustle,” “Black Mass” and “Manchester-By-The-Sea.” From their stories, guests will come away with lessons of courage, perseverance, entrepreneurship and passion.
