Seriously Good Steak and Ale Pie

You’ve got to love a dish that lists beer as one of its key ingredients. Such is the case with the steak and ale pie featured on the menu at the British Beer Company—a favorite dish at many traditional English pubs and a local favorite here on the South Shore.

The dish is prepared by slowly cooking tender chunks of steak in a stout gravy containing mushrooms, onions, smoky bacon, carrots and fresh herbs. After it is topped with a flaky pastry crust the pie is baked until it’s golden brown and served with cheddar-mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. Each personal-sized steak pie is rich and flavorful and pairs perfectly with a pint of Fuller’s Pride, Newcastle or Uncle Lumpy’s Vanilla Porter. Whether you enjoy yours from the comfort of a cozy booth or sitting at the bar watching football (of either sort) on the tele, this dish that is guaranteed to warm you up on a chilly afternoon. Visit one of British Beer Company’s South Shore locations in Cedarville, Pembroke or Plymouth to taste it yourself.
