Q&A with Lauren Matera of The Studio of Duxbury

How long have you owned The Studio of Duxbury and what attracted you to the business?

I have owned The Studio for two years and the shop has been a part of Duxbury since the 1950s. It is one of the few places that still offers complimentary gift wrapping. I have always found gift stores to be happy, fun places to get lost in and I felt I had a good understanding for the types of gifts that people love and find meaningful.

How have you put your personal touch on the shop?

The Studio has been a staple in Duxbury, which is why it was important for me to retain as much of the original identity as possible. We’ve added our own touch by expanding on the growing demand for baby gifts. This has been a personal treasure for me, given that my husband Billy and I are expecting our first baby this spring. We also developed the store’s online presence, allowing customers to fulfill a wedding or shower registry.

What does The Studio specialize in?

The Studio specializes in personalized gifts and home decor accessories.  In a small town like Duxbury, customer service is everything. We are on a first name basis with so many of our shoppers and take such great pride in seeing their faces over and over again.
