Known for her vibrantly colored collages, Marshfield artist Marcia Ballou’s artwork often depicts the flowers and wildlife in her own backyard. Her painting “Mr. Fox” was inspired by a wild fox that frequently visits her property. “He hunts in my field and sometimes I am given the gift of seeing his family,” says Ballou. “He is lovely.”
This summer, Ballou will be leading several one-day collage workshops for adults at her home studio, teaching students how to use gelatin printing methods and create colorful images using torn pieces of paper. She also teamed up with Massachusetts Audubon’s North River Wildlife Sanctuary and Duxbury Beach Reservation to lead an interactive wildlife mural project for kids on July 14 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Duxbury Beach. “It is tons of fun,” says Ballou. Registration is not required and the finished mural will hang in the North River Wildlife Sanctuary learning room.
