Known as a cheerful spot to grab a quick breakfast or enjoy a leisurely lunch, The Plate at Milton Marketplace recently began expanding its repertoire with the launch of The Plate After Dark (PAD). The new program offers a series of evening cooking classes that teach customers how to prepare and enjoy dishes that are simple and nutritious. There are group and private classes for as few as eight students. A Foods for Cinco de Mayo cooking class will be held on May 2 led by instructors Jeanne Burns and Suzanne Lombardi and featuring guacamole, queso fundido and pork carnitas tacos. Participants will also learn how to create a Paloma, a Mexican cocktail made with grapefruit, lime and Tequila. The classes are a great way to work on recipes for your next Cinco de Mayo party or just enjoy a fun night out with some delicious food with friends. Tickets are $75. Upcoming PAD events include a class on spring appetizers on May 16, a celebration of New England seafood on May 23 and a class on summer salads on June 6. In addition, The Plate will be celebrating Mother’s Day this month by donating 10 percent of the proceeds from its Mother’s Day brunch to a local women’s organization.
