Like a Kid in a Candy Shoppe

Colorful displays of lollypops, jelly beans and rich gooey fudge greeted me as I entered Peppermint Twist Candy Shoppe in Marshfield. Opened just over a year ago in Library Plaza, the shop has a huge supply of penny candy and old-fashioned favorites, like Sky Bars and Turkish Taffy. Just in time for the Easter holiday, displays are packed full of chocolate bunnies, chocolate pretzels decorated in spring colors and custom-made Easter baskets. According to owner and Marshfield native Marie Malmin, the penny candy (there are 60 jars to choose from) and fudge are top sellers. As I made my way over to the fudge case, something caught my eye: a macadamia nut milk claw. The combination of macadamia nuts enrobed in milk chocolate and gooey caramel was too irresistible, so I hung up my fudge dreams for another day and ordered a milk claw for the road. As for the fudge, it will give me something to look forward to on my next visit.

If you’re still looking for something to fill Easter Baskets, holiday hours are as follows: Good Friday and Easter Saturday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Closed Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
