A curvaceous flower petal can become a work of art to someone with an artist’s eye. Mirbeau Inn and Spa in Plymouth and Hunt’s Photo and Video in Hanover have teamed up to present Impressions in Photography: A Retreat for the Senses. The retreat will be led by award-winning fine art photographer Charles Needle, author of “Impressionistic Photography: A Field Guide to Using Your Camera as a Paintbrush,” who spent over 10 years teaching photography at Claude Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France. Needle will teach participants how to capture dramatic floral images using digital cameras and smartphones. Group members will spend two nights at the Mirbeau Inn and Spa and will practice their digital photography skills in the verdant gardens, which are home to Irises, Lilies, coneflowers and many other flowering plants. The workshop, which runs July 13-15, also includes immersive lectures about macro and impressionistic photography, group image evaluations and Q&A sessions.
