Fashion Truck Trend

Ann Foley-Collins is the woman behind the wheel of Glee Gifts Boutique on Wheels, the latest local addition to the mobile retail shop craze. Having operated a traditional retail boutique for years, Foley-Collins, who divides her time between Canton and Plymouth, decided to trade in her brick and mortar business for a fashion truck last fall and officially launched her new business in 2016, selling hip women’s clothing, accessories, jewelry and gifts out of the back of her converted truck.

“Shopping on the truck is an experience,” says Foley-Collins, who plays music and lights scented candles to create an inviting atmosphere. Her goal is to provide a professional shopping environment that is fun and welcoming to customers and she tries to keep on trend by offering items that can’t be found in typical retail stores. Most of the styles are one size, but a small changing area is available. Inspired by the popularity of the food truck trend, Foley-Collins hopes that she and other mobile boutique owners can help shake up the fashion world. This summer, Glee Gifts Boutique on Wheels will be parked at the Wellfleet Flea Market on Wednesdays and Thursdays and will be making stops at various South Shore events, including Scituate Heritage Days (August 6 and 7), the Plymouth Waterfront Festival (August 27), and The Pinehills in Plymouth (September 17).
