South Shore Health System will present the 14th annual Moonlight & Miracles Gala on October 21 at the University Sports Complex at Starland in Hanover. South Shore Hospital’s largest charity event, the gala is an elegant, black-tie affair that includes an elegant dinner prepared by The Catered Affair, silent and live auctions and live entertainment and dancing. This year’s event, however, will include a few new elements to tie into a newly expanded charitable focus.
All proceeds raised at this year’s gala will be directed to the construction of a new Intensive Care Unit at South Shore Hospital. Site work has begun for the new, state-of-the-art 24-bed ICU on the new 5th floor of the Messina Building and renovation of the existing ICU to become a 24-bed intermediate care unit. The new ICU will benefit critical care patients, including many cancer patients
“We’re always looking for ways to elevate the event,” says gala chair Ellen Essenfeld Centanni, who says that in between glasses of champagne guests will have an opportunity to watching a video about the new ICU and also check out the hospital’s state-of-the-art Mobile Sim Lab (parked in the cocktail area) to see how the vehicle is being used to train emergency personnel.
