There’s something sweet happening on Derby Street in honor of a heart-filled holiday coming up next month.

Now through February 19, Hingham’s Derby Street Shoppes is encouraging customers to “shop small” for Valentine’s Day at a pop-up event highlighting local brands. Located in the shopping center next to b.good, the pop-up primarily features Truro-based Chequessett Chocolate, but will also include special events with Waltham calligraphist Sip & Script and floral designers Fleur Events of Milton.

In addition to choosing from a selection of chocolate-covered fruits, chocolate bark, caramels and bon bons available for purchase (think caramelized hazelnut, raspberry, speculoos and candied orange) shoppers can watch Chequessett Chocolate staff make handcrafted, small-batch chocolates onsite to get a close-up view of the chocolate-making process. The company has even outfitted the space with a beautiful 10-foot wooden boat, a family heirloom.

The pop-up also hosts workshops with Fleur Events and Sip & Script. On Saturday, February 11, from 10 AM to 12 PM, the two retailers will team up for Cards & Crowns, a calligraphy and flower crown-making workshop. Tickets are available at sipandscript.com. Oh, did we mention that mimosas are included?
