Caribbean Rhythms

There may not be any palm trees nearby, but listening to the music produced by a steel drum has a way of transporting listeners. Scituate residents Desiree and Adam Nazro started the band Steel Rhythm in 2005 and produced two new albums last year. Their album, “Hit the Beach!” includes modern song covers, classic Caribbean songs and even a rendition of “Kiss the Girl” from the popular Disney movie The Little Mermaid. Steel Rhythm’s music is enjoyed by listeners of all ages. When they’re not playing together, the band members have other musical pursuits. Desiree plays in orchestras and on Broadway in the orchestra pit while Adam travels as a jazz percussionist.  During their musical career, the duo has played with famous musicians including Tony Bennett, Warren Haynes, Andy Williams and Diana Krall. Whether performing at a family barbecue on the beach or an elegant wedding reception, Steel Rhythm brings a little island flavor to the party. For more information, visit steelrhythm.com.
