Brothers Roast Beef, a business with locations in Quincy, Weymouth and Abington, recently announced the opening of their seventh restaurant location in Hanover. However, instead of being a takeout joint like its predecessors, Brothers Grill Bar & Restaurant has a more formal environment.
The new restaurant opened in early May, after some delays, but judging from our visit, it was well worth the wait. The bright and airy interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with high ceilings, a wall of glass windows and a massive white stone bar as the focal point.
The menu includes some old favorites that the Brothers chain has become known for, such as the steak tip or grilled chicken kabob salad. The real standout is the enormous, uber-tender, melt-in-your-mouth roast beef sandwich that is served on a brioche bun or onion roll with a side of hand cut fries or thick onion rings. We recommend choosing a half-and-half order, so you can sample both crispy sides.
The dinner menu features tender filet mignon, grilled sirloin, baked cod, lamb lollipops, shrimp scampi and vegetable risotto. There is also a nice sampling of pizzas and calzones and a kid’s menu. Be sure to save room for the New Orleans-style bread pudding – you’ll be glad you did. Brothers Grill Bar & Restaurant is located at 778 Washington Street in Hanover. — Kellie Speed
