Antiques on the Airwaves

Peter Smith, owner of The Plymouth Exchange in Plymouth, can’t wait to talk about the value of old objects on his new radio program, “The Antiques Air Show,” which will be broadcast on 95.9 WATD-FM starting in January. With over 30 years of experience working with antiques, Smith will share advice on estate sales and on buying and selling objects, from antique rocking chairs and artwork to your grandfather’s lighter from World War II. He’ll also answer questions from listeners and plans to invite people to submit photos of their antiques so that he can deliver on-air appraisals. Smith’s radio show will also feature an exciting list of guest appearances, including Stephen Fletcher from the PBS television series “Antiques Roadshow.”

“Everyone loves ‘Antiques Roadshow,’ and there’s no reason why I can’t replicate that on the radio,” says Smith. “I want to make the show a little edgy, a little rock-and-roll. It’s going to be fun.” “The Antiques Air Show” will premiere on Saturday, January 7, from 10 – 11 a.m., and will air weekly. —Kelly Chase
