The Marshfield Agricultural Commission will hold their popular Adopt-a-Seedling event at the Marshfield Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 19, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Marshfield Fair Grounds. Commission members start and nurture the seedlings using organic materials and methods and then offer them for adoption. For the seventh consecutive year we will feature over 40 types of tomato plants, mostly hard-to-find heirlooms including cherry, paste, container and slicing tomatoes. Enjoy a rainbow of color at harvest time with green, pink, yellow, orange, red, mahogany and black fruit. Other seedlings and cuttings include a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers.
Commission members will be present to answer questions. Donations from this event help support the Commission’s annual lecture series in the late winter, and other educational and informational programs regarding agriculture and the right to farm.
