“Heart of the Matter” artist Karen Cass

The South Shore Natural Science Center is pleased to announce the exhibit “Heart of the Matter” by Hanover artist Karen Cass.  The show opens Tuesday, November 20 and runs through January 6, 2019.  The Opening Reception will be Friday, November 23 from 5-7 p.m. in the Vine Hall Gallery.

Karen currently teaches art for grades K-4 at Cedar Elementary School in Hanover. She is the owner of Karma Studio, her home art-space where she conducts private art lessons and workshops. Karen has served as an Artist in Residence at the South Shore Art Center and is active in her community as Chair of the Hanover Cultural Council.

Her recent paintings express her concern for the environment through her use of the abstracted landscape, heavily layered organic forms and networks. The artist draws the viewer into her imaginary world of color and pattern to evoke a sense of place and whisper a message of caution to appreciate and preserve our precious natural resources.
