Chatting with Bill LaRossa
Co-owner of LaRossa Shoe and LOUIE
How long has LaRossa Shoe been in Weymouth?
LaRossa Shoe has been here for over 100 years. The business was started by my grandfather and my dad. My father always stressed customer service and the need to take care of people and make them feel welcome.
What inspired you to open LOUIE two years ago?
LOUIE was a natural extension to LaRossa Shoe. We felt we could bring a fresh approach to specialty retail. We wanted to assemble a most interesting mix of quality, classic clothing, footwear, handbags, luggage and accessories.
What are your featured brands?
We carry brands that we feel offer the very best quality for the price. This includes more than 20 brands made in the USA. One of our favorites is Alden shoes, made right here in Middleboro. We carry Dubarry of Ireland, Rodd and Gunn from New Zealand, Schott motorcycle jackets (made in America for over 100 years) and New Balance sneakers (we focus on their American-made). Our biggest brand is Barbour, from the United Kingdom.
What is the shopping experience like?
We help customers build timeless wardrobes so that they can enjoy each piece for many seasons to come. We encourage our customers to take their time, hang out with us, have a coffee and have fun discovering and discussing the brands. Our objective is to make you not only look great, but feel great!
Do you have a tip for shoe shoppers?
Buy the best that you can afford, and take your time. Bad fitting shoes have different repercussions than a bad fitting shirt or coat.
