How the Night Moves

The Greater Boston Night Photographers meetup group will be displaying about 25 works from various artists in the Boston area this month at Front Street Art Gallery in Scituate. The exhibit’s title, “Luminous City,” indicates the subject matter of the images that will be shown.

The photography group’s organizer, Jürgen Lobert, creates hauntingly beautiful nightscapes in the Boston area and the South Shore. His images capture deep colors and often a sense of glowing motion, they relay a profound peace from roaming the night and capturing time, where clouds form bands, cars become bright streaks, water ripples smooth over and stars form trails in the sky.

“Night photography transforms the familiar and creates serene views of our surrounding, revealing beauty in the mundane, which we often rush through at night, but rarely acknowledge in its beauty,” says Lobert. A reception will be held on May 1 from 6-8:30 p.m. and the exhibit will run through May 10. 124 Front St., Scituate, 781-545-6150,
